Festive Fun on
The Isle of Wight
20th- 24th November 2023

Shanklin boasts a long sandy beach which lies at the foot of the spectacular cliffs. The traditional seaside part of town blends into the picturesque, thatched cottages of Shanklin Old Town at the head of the impressive Shanklin Chine. Although a quieter and more intimate resort than Sandown it nevertheless has its own theatre and  lively pubs.

Tuesday (alias Christmas Eve) is a full day tour of the island. Our first stop will be Ventnor, the southernmost holiday beach on the Isle of Wight. Nestled in the bay beneath the tumbling tiers of the Victorian town, the red shingle and golden sand beach has vintage beach huts that once had wheels and transported the gentry down to the sea, as they were bathing machines. We will also make a lunchtime stop in Cowes, famed for it’s regatta, before travelling on to Sandown. We return to the hotel in plenty of time to relax before your evening meal.

Wednesday(alias Christmas Day) will be your day at leisure in Shanklin. There will be a morning competition to guess the weight of the Christmas cake,  a traditional Christmas lunch and there will also be afternoon tea and games. Dinner is followed by dancing and entertainment.

Thursday (alias Boxing Day)  is a morning excursion to Newport, the main town and capitol of the Island, home to a mixture of well-known chains and independent stores and plenty of history and heritage. We return to the hotel via the Brading viewpoint which gives a stunning island wide panorama.
